Scope
Work on the low-voltage side of a site's electrical installation: additions, modifications and compliance checks, carried out and documented to Japanese standards.
- Adding circuits and distribution sub-boards
- Lighting and power outlet installation
- Compliance upgrades on existing installations
- Rework after a production line change or relocation
Legal basis
This work is carried out under a specific qualification: 認定電気工事従事者, certified for low-voltage work on privately-owned high-voltage installations under 500 kW (認定電気工事従事者) — sites with their own high-voltage supply point (自家用電気工作物), such as a factory, warehouse or commercial building.
It is not a formality: it is what makes the work legal, insurable, and acceptable to a facility owner or an auditor asking who signed it off.
Who this is for
Factories, warehouses, offices, shops and hotels with their own high-voltage supply point — typically foreign-owned or foreign-operated sites where an English-language point of contact for electrical work matters as much as the work itself.
What this does not cover
Not included: work above 600V, the high-voltage side of the installation itself, and residential dwellings (一般用電気工作物) — a different legal category, not covered by this qualification.
